[align=left][b]Exhibition: Freedom [/b][/align][align=left]< May 18 - June 20 >[/align][align=left]Soemo Fine Arts is honoured to invite you to the Private View of the exhibition Freedom in which we display the works of four contemporary artists: Liu Chunhai, Wo Dewu, Tiang Jianying and Wang Zhonghua.[/align][align=left]Please feel more than welcome to join us on May the 18th from 2 pm until 5 pm[/align][align=left]Freedom[/align][align=left]Freedom is the possibility of doubting, of making a mistake,... of searching and experimenting,... of saying No to any authority - literary, artistic, philosophical, religious, social, and even political. Freedom is choosing your own destiny, without being restrained by others, both mentally and physically. It is the right of an individual to hold a particular thought, belief or viewpoint.[/align][align=left]Today, this kind of freedom is not (yet) a common good, and many people all around the world are still living a life which is mainly influenced by an authority. [/align][align=left]In the works presented during this exhibition, the main theme is freedom... or the lack of freedom. The artists have lived in situations where they have felt so restrained that their happiness disappeared. The figures in their work long for some kind of freedom, freedom of choice, of thoughts, of living. Their desire is to break free from their current situation.[/align][align=left]We as viewers can learn from their experiences, realising the importance of freedom by understanding their work,... sympathizing. For do we not know the meaning of freedom until we have experienced living an unfree life?[/align]
