mark dion
Born in 1961 in Massachusetts, lives and works in Beach Lake, PA.Since the mid-1980s Dion has been investigating the relationship between the natural world and its forms of representation and classification. Acting at times as explorer, biologist, ornithologist, ethnographer or archaeologist, Dion constructs laboratories and experiments in his installations, creating personal systems of classification. The results mimic, as a contemporary critique, the scientific processes characteritic of the recent historical past. Fictional elements in his work often function ironically, pointing toward outmoded scientific theories and techniques, to reveal the subjective, and at times arbitrary, character of scientific research.Mark Dion shows his work in galleries and museums all over the world, and is included in importanti public and private collections: PS1, New York; Museo Nacional Reina Sofia, Madrid (1994); GAM, Turin (1996); XLVII Venice Biennial; Sculpture Projects, Munster (1997); Kunstverein, Hamburg; De Appel, Amsterdam (1997); Tate Modern, London; MOMA, New York (1999); Whitney Museum, New York (2001); Aldrich Museum, Ridgefield CT (2003); The Manchester Museum, Manchester, UK (2005); MoMA, New York (2006); Carr? d'art contemporain, Nimes (2007). 艺术家
sam durant
Born in 1961 in Seattle, lives and works in Los Angeles. The work of sam Durant investigates utopia and its failure in relation to protest and countercultures movements in American political history. Through the use of a great variety of media, his work rather then succumbing to a fascination with the original sources generates an aestethic in which elements of high and low culture coexist. Composing his own language, he brings out the contradictions of modernism reassembling them in a dissonant polyphny of forms. His work has been shown at prestigious private and public institutions, including: Salzburger Kunstverein (1999); MAK Center for Art and Architecture Los Angeles (2000); MAMCO Geneva, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (2001); Wadsworth Atheneum Hartford, Connecticut, MOCA Los Angeles (2002); Kunstverein Dsseldorf;,Walker Art Center Minneapolis, Secession Wien (2003); Palais de Tokyo Paris (2004); CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts San Francisco; Wrong Gallery New York (2005); Massachusetts College of Art Boston, Deste Foundation Athens, Palazzo delle Papesse Siena (2006); 1st Athens Biennial, Triennale Bovisa, 8th Panama Biennial (2007). 艺术家

Rene Green,
born in 1959 in Cleveland, lives and works in Santa Barbara and New York. Rene Green conceives of her exhibitions as pauses for reflection. The issuesaddressed in her work often extend beyond the traditional realms of art, approching such disciplines as cinematic theory, music historyn and politics. Her installations, filled with books, photos, sounds, historical and designerobjects, are investigations in which stratified themes are brought together, reflecting the artist's subjective narrative voice. Her research strategies, likethose of Conceptual Art, focus upon linguistic systems, to produce a densenetwork of associations, freely circulating between the present, the past andan imaginary future. Mike Kelley,
born in 1954 in Detroit, lives and works in Los Angeles.Mike Kelley has been active since the late 1970s; his work has had a profound effect on the art of recent years. The references in Kelley's output are varied: the countercultures of the late 1960s and early 1970s, the mass psychology of pop culture, body art and feminism, American conceptual art, and the historical avantgardes. Kelley reconciles these elements through the construction of a personal poetic cosmology built on visual and linguistic analogies. In the presence of his works the viewer is transported into myriad physical and psychological spaces.Works and projects by Mike Kelley have been included in many important exhibitions, at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Smithsonian Institute, Washington DC; Museum van Hedendaagse Kunst, Ghent (1991); Kunsthalle Basel; ICA, London; CAPC Muse d'art contemporain, Bordeaux (1992); Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Haus der Kunst, Munchen; Whitney Museum, New York (1993); Kunstverein Hamburg (1995); Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona; Rooseum, Malm? John Lovett,
born in 1962 in Allentown, USA, and Alessandro Codagnone, born in 1967 in Milano. They live and work in New York.Lovett/Codagnone have been working together since 1995. Their production ranges from photography to sculpture, video, installation and performance. They are always the protagonist in their works, performing role games aimed at umnasking socially defined power relationships. In their earliest works, Lovett/Codagnone often made reference to B&D and S&M practices, repositioning the aesthetics of the gay subculture into suburban and domestic environments or everyday public spaces. Gay culture has recently been absorbed by mass culture as reflected in popular aesthetich products produced by the fashion, music and entertainement industries, neutralizing the destabilizing impact of this particular culture of resistance. Lovett/Codagnone responds to this situation critically by focusing on the hierarchical dynamics that lie behind everyday interpersonal interaction.Lovett/Codagnone have shown their works in public and private spaces in Europe and the United States, including: Centro Atlantico de Arte Moderno, Las Palmas; Muse des Beaux Arts, Nantes (1998); Thread Waxing Space, New York (2000); Centre d'Art Contemporain de Basse-Normandie, Hrouville Saint-Clair; Centre of Contemporary Art, Riga (2001); Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Neue Gesellschaft fur Bildende Kunst (NGBK), Berlin; TRANS>area, New York; Participant Inc., New York; (2003); De Appel, Amsterdam (2005); LA-ART, Los Angeles; Ludwig Museum, Colonia (2006).In 2006 a monograph on Lovett/Codagnones work has been published by Charta, with texts by Lia Gangitano and Octavio Zaya. 艺术家
Liliana Moro
Born in Milano in 1961, where she lives and works. Liliana Moro uses a variety of media - drawing, sculpture, video and performance - to portray a variegated world of humble materials and everyday objects.Through a formal play between fragility and force, Liliana Moro's work unmasks aestetich and social conventions. In her work the world is reduced to to miniaturized measurements, where the use of sound and the pressure to look down are a way to involve and force the viewer to a spatial and temporal shift. This process serves to amplify the minimal and emotional perceptive slippage that resides in the back of our existence, leaving deep traces on the consciousness.Liliana Moro is one of the most representative Italian artists of her generation. She has taken part in important international exhibitions, including Documenta IX, Kassel (1992); the XLV Venice Biennal (1993); PS1 New York (1999); the Valencia Biennal (2001); De Gustibus, Palazzo delle Papesse, Siena (2002); Liliana Moro, Fondazione Ambrosetti, Palazzolo sull'Oglio, Brescia (2004); Collezione Permanente, Centro per L'arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci, Prato (2004); Monuments for the USA, CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts, San Francisco (2005), Il Potere delle Donne, Galleria Civica d'Arte Contemporanea di Trento EGOMANIA, Galleria Civica, Modena, Collage effect, 1301PE, Los Angeles, California (2006).Her works are included in important public and private collections: Castello di Rivoli, GAM of Turin, FNAC of Paris, FRAC Rhone-Alpes/Nouveau Muse, Villeurbanne, Lyon, Centro per l'Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci, Prato. Tony Oursler
was born in 1957 in New York where he lives and works. Tony Ourslers practice spans almost three decades during which he has researched different ways of using video. His integration of sculptural elements and projections inside the frame of his installations creates a malleable space in which language and images coexist. At the very core of Tony Ourslers work lies the will to create a dialogue that invites creative engagement on the part of the viewer. Oursler's work has been shown in prestigious institutions such as The Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; "Documenta VIII, IX,?Kassel; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh; "Skulptur Projekte", Munster; Museum Ludwig, Cologne; the Hirshhorn Museum, Washington and the Tate Liverpool. 艺术家
sturling Ruby
Ruby work across disciplines, including drawing, photography, sculpture, video and performance, Ruby is concerned with the interstices between freedom and control, expression and silence, individual and community. In his work disparate things are attached as deviated conglomerations. The six prints in the ''Recombines'' exhibition are collage scans of candles and body builders' bodies. Titled ''PHYSICALISM, THE RECOMBINE'', they form a direct associations between the idea of enlightenment represented by the candles and the sculpted bodies, that should be read as signs of rigid domination. The two concepts merge in the series, visual aspects find a direct parallel in materiality, the dichotomies of such classifications slip among the elements, producing unclear possible meanings about how liberation and restraint can find a formal balance. In conjunction with the prints are two urethane sculptures. These anthropomorphic, somehow figurative sculptures appear to have been extracted and melted through the synthesis of a stalagmite-stalactite process. Focusing on the mere physicality, all imagery and forms in this assembly of works have at their base a strong sexual presence. As always in his practice, Ruby addresses the antagonism between larger social structures and individual desire. Sterling Ruby was born in Bitburg, Germany, in 1972.He lives and works in Los Angeles. 艺术家:
Rirkrit Tiravanija
Born in 1961 in Buenos Aires, lives and works in New York."What counts is not what you see, but what happens".A nomad from birth, in his work Tiravanija communicates his personal experience of constant cultural exchange. His capacity for cultural adaptation and his interest in interpersonal interaction, led him to create "spaces of relation". Allowing art to reveal itself in the moment of its creation, and prompting the audience to take part in the artistic process he has, since the beginning of the 1990s, produced work based on "relational aesthetics", the historical precedents of which are the 60s Fluxus and Happening movements. In recent years the work of Rirkrit Tiravanija has been shown in prestigious exhibition contexts, including Manifesta, Rotterdam (1996); MOMA, New York (1996); Sculpture Projects, Munster (1997); Migros Museum, Zurich (1998); Sydney Biennial (1998); Centre Pompidou, Paris (1998); Museum Ludwig, Koln (1999); the XLVIII Venice Biennial (1999); Stdtisches Museum Abteiberg, Munchengladbach (2002); Secession, Wien (2002); Galerie fr Zeitgenossische Kunst, Leipzig (2003); Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam (2004); Muse d'art moderne de la Ville de Paris (2005); Whitney Biennial 2006, New York (2006). 艺术家:
Gillian Wearing,
born in 1963 in Birmingham, lives and works in London. The complexity of human relations is the central theme in the work ofGillian Wearing. Through the use of photography and video, beyond theirformal content, the artist investigates the most intimate aspects ofinterpersonal relationships and the relation to oneself. Drawing ontelevision formats like documentaries and "true confessions", Wearingcreates common stories that manage to avoid any cynical voyeurism thank tothe curious, direct but never sentimental involvement of the artist with theprotagonists of her works. The use of technology in the post productionphase increases the tension in the works, suspended between the evidence ofthe image and the emotions of the protagonists, without ever relying onspectacular expedients or pure artifice. The work of Gillian Wearing has been shown in very important space in Europe and the United States, including: Centre National D'Art Contemporain, Grenoble; CAPC Muse Contemporain, Bordeaux; ICA, London (1997); Tate Gallery, London (1998); Moderna Museet, Stockholm; IMMA, Dublin (1999); Kunstalle Wien (2000); Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Castello di Rivoli, Torino (2001); Casino Luxembourg, Luxembourg; Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein; Kunsthaus Glarus (2002); MCA, Chicago (2002-2003); Sammlung Goetz, Mnchen (2003); Palazzo delle Papesse Centro Arte Contamporanea, Siena (2005); Galleria Civica di Arte Contemporanea, Trento (2004, 2007). .

John Waters,
born in 1946 in Baltimore, where he lives and works. Described by William Burroughs as the "pope of trash", in recent years the cult film director John Waters has extended his activities as director and writer into the realm of photography producing a series of arresting works utilizing the format of the cinema storyboard. In his re-editing, mixing, and re-titling of preexisting cinematic images he explores themes similar to that of his films: pornography, censorship, Catholicism, Hollywood and the banal horrors of everyday life. Waters' artworks are especially relevant today, given the increasingly close relationship between art and cinema. In a moment in which many artists are trying their hand at directing, Waters, as usual, goes against the current. His works have been shown in important art spaces in Europe and the United States. His films include: Pink Flamingos 1972, Female Trouble 1974, Desperate Living 1977, Polyester 1981, Hairspray 1988, Cry-Baby 1990, Serial Mom 1994, Pecker 1998 Cecil B. Luca Vitone
Born in 1964 in Genova, lives and works in Milano. The artwork of Luca Vitone focuses on the idea of the place, inviting us to recognize something we already know, defying the convention of mutable, faded memory that characterize the present. His work explores the way places are identified through cultural production: art, music, cuisine, political associations, ethnic minorities. Vitone bridges the gap between the sense of loss of place characteristic of the postmodern and the ways in which feelings of belonging arise in the intersection of personal and collective memory. He reconstructs and invents forgotten paths to reconfigurative his own personal geography. The work of Luca Vitone has been shown in public and private space both in Italy and abroad, including: Accademia di Francia, Villa Medici, Roma (1999); PS!, New York; Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Roma; Museo Pecci, Prato; PAC, Milano (2000); Casino Luxembourg, Luxembourg; Lenbachhaus Kunstbau, Muenchen (2001); National Centre for Contamporary Art, Moscow (2002); Cittadellarte, Fondazione Pistoletto, Biella: Centre Cultural Bancaixa, Il Bienal de Valencia; 50?Biennale di Venezia (2003); Centrum fr Genenwartskunst, Oberosterreich, Linz; Centre National d'Art Contemporain, Nice; (2004); XIV Quadriennale d'Arte, Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Roma; Palais de Tokyo, Paris; MUMOK, Vienna; Magazzino d'Arte Moderna, Roma (2005); Kettle's Yard, Cambridge, UK; Palazzo Cavour, Torino; Casino Luxembourg, Luxembourg (2006). 大牌..
